RSS is an XML format that stands for "Really Simple Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary", depending on who you talk to. Basically it's a standardized format for sharing content like news and other information over the Internet. RSS is a lot like TiVo but for the Internet - you get to choose what content you want and when.

RSS Feeds, as they are called, are viewed in an RSS Reader, sometimes called a news aggragator. You'll need an RSS Reader to view RSS feeds and Podcasts. You can download our RSS Reader for free here.

You can choose what news, blogs, etc. you want to get by adding these feeds to your reader. Look for icons that look like this or when visiting your favorite web sites.

RSS readers allow you to subscribe to RSS feeds much like web browsers allow you to view web pages. The RSS reader will automatically update on some regular schedule and display the new articles from the feeds you have supplied to the reader. Most RSS readers will notify you when a new item has appeared from one of your feeds.
